RC – Dynamic Reading

Here are some suggestions to follow up on ‘Dynamic Reading’:

  • Check your understanding of the passages from the video by doing the related questions. Below are links to the passages and questions on GMATClub. Notice how there are lots of questions for each passage – in a test, the algorithm would select just 3 or 4 for you to do:

  • Activate your own reading. Take some more RC passages from the Official Guide (choose topics that you don’t like!) and read them aloud in the way that I did, pausing after each phrase or sentence to simplify, connect, and Use a piece of paper to cover up the rest of the passage so that you read line-by-line. This will likely take longer than the way you usually read, but it will hopefully give you a new experience.
  • Make the conversation real by finding a friend to read a passage with. Again, read line by line and have a brief discussion after each sentence.
  • After you read a passage, close your book and check your understanding by writing down the key points. This is good training for your short-term memory and for organizing your understanding.
